Once upon a time, in fact 1865, Guido Bartooli, a hard rock miner, started digging for gold in an area that now bears his name. Just three years later he found a fabulously rich vein of gold and the mining town of Bartooli was born. Guido mined it himself in secret. He never told anyone where the “Mother Lode” was located. Other miners began digging for gold, but none found any rich veins. Any vein that was found didn't last more than a couple feet before it ran out. Only Bartooli's gold tested 98% pure time after time at the Assay Office in Bartooli.

All was well until Buford Black and his four sons moved into town. The time was 1887 and the beginning of the end for peace and prosperity for the town of nearly one hundred. Buford Black dreamed of having Bartooli's Mine for himself and his sons, Alex, Herb, Mark and Ray. Little by little the Black family drove out or killed anyone who got in the way of his dream. Alex took over the Trading Post after the previous owner was found stone dead in the middle of the night. Herb took over the Mad Dog Saloon after killing the owner in a “fair” gun fight. Mark became the new Blacksmith after the former Blacksmith got his head kicked in by a horse he was shoeing. Ray took the Stage Depot over after brutally shooting the owner like a dog in the street.

The only honest folk left in town were Samuel White and his two sons, Dave, the Town Marshall, and Edward, the Assayer. Samuel founded and runs the First Bank of Bartooli.

The Brown family, consisted of twin brothers, each of whom had one daughter. Noel Brown is Reverend of the Church of Bartooli and his daughter Bebe works at the Mad Dog Saloon with her boyfriend Herb Black. Lou Brown is the Undertaker and his daughter Dede manages the hotel that her boyfriend is Dave White owns.

In 1890 the Town of Bartooli had a population of only eighteen. On July 4th the town lost two more. Buford Black decided to have it out once and for all with Guido Bartooli. The result of that shootout shows all to well when you visit Boot Hill, the towns cemetery.

The time now is 1891, six months after the tragic shootout. You are the last living heir of Guido Bartooli. He left you his gold mine and hidden stash of gold, but he didn't give any directions in his Last Will and Testament as to where to find this stash or his gold mine.

Oh, by the way, there're Claim Jumpers living somewhere down in Bartooli's Mine. They are brothers, of course, and their names are Ike, Spike and Mike. They are the bastard sons of Wong Fong and three different Ladies from Belles Palace.

Speaking of Belles Palace, Doc works there and might be available, if he not too drunk, to help you with any gun shot wounds you may get in Bartooli.

Remember the Blacks have no love for you.  Guido killed their father and now you're here to claim his stash of gold.  So don't be surprised if they shoot you when they see you.  Their dad killed your Uncle Guido so you don't have to feel bad if you shoot them in self defense.

Have fun and good luck finding Bartooli's Mine!
